What if Mozart wasn't the only musical genius in the family? SCSO performs for the "Maria Anna Mozart concert tour" at the Rangebow Festival.
Maria Anna "Nannerl" Mozart was a brilliant musician who toured Europe as a child alongside her younger brother Wolfgang, astonishing audiences with her talent. The award-winning 2025 Australian documentary Mozart's Sister explores Maria Anna's extraordinary story and questions of whose music gets to be celebrated and remembered - and whose is lost?
At this year's Rangebow Festival, SCSO will perform excerpts from the AACTA award winning film score by Jessica Wells during a narrated montage of film highlights led by Dr Shari Hall. The one-hour concert will also feature a performance of Mozart's first symphony (now thought by many to have been composed by both Maria Anna and Wolfgang Mozart), as well as Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensell's sparkling Overture in C.
This incredible immersive experience will be followed by an opportunity to discuss DEI in classical music with composer Jessica Wells, conductor Isabella Gerometta, and singer songwriter Shari Hall.
*The film Mozart's Sister can be seen in its entirety on ABC iView.
Tickets are available from the Rangebow Festival, Sunday October 18th 2pm at the Maleny Community Centre.
