In a lovely full circle moment for our orchestra, our new Orchestra Leader Melissa Buddle, was inspired to pursue a career in violin performance through her early lessons with our retiring Orchestra Leader Genevieve Bignell.
Melissa is an outstanding violinist and has recently completed her degree at the Queensland Conservatorium with first class honours. As well as being a past orchestra leader of the Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra Melissa has played with almost every ensemble on the Sunshine Coast, runs a successful teaching studio, and teaches at Immanuel Lutheran College.
Her musical talent, deep connections with musicians on the Sunshine Coast, and proven leadership skills make her the perfect choice for this role. She has such a bright future ahead and we're all so excited to be working with her at SCSO.
Come and celebrate her debut as our Orchestra Leader in the first concert for 2026 "Romance and Fate" 2pm 29th March at The Events Centre Caloundra.
